Milbury Systems at Heathrow's T5

During ongoing work at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5, Milbury has delivered nearly 500 of its patented Rocket Wall® units providing temporary protection and site demarcation.

The Rocket Walls®, together with L walls and vertical cantilever units are being supplied through Travis Perkins.

Rocket Walls® are particularly useful for use as demarcation barriers as their holding down fixings allow the units to be resited and used many times in a variety of different configurations as work progresses or requirements change on site.  Cast from reinforced concrete, Milbury’s Rocket Wall® is an innovative product which is also ideal for bulk storage of waste materials and aggregates.

Milbury’s Rocket Walls® have previously been used to form storage bunkers for aggregates during resurfacing work on runways and concourses at Luton and Bristol International Airport.

Rocket, “L” and “T” shaped precast wall units are all available for use on existing floor slabs, and for a more permanent option, Milbury’s prestressed Vertical Cantilever system allows for the design and construction of free standing structures up to nine metres high.

With a team of highly experienced designers based at the Head Office near Bristol, Milbury Systems aims to meet the requirements of any project.

Maintaining their commitment and presence at the SED show for another year, Milbury Systems will once again be exhibiting a wide range of their products. This will include their unique patented precast concrete Rocket Walls™. Cast from high quality reinforced concrete the Rockets are an ideal solution for temporary structures with their holding down fixings allowing the units to be resited and used many times in a variety of different configurations.

Milbury’s Rocket Walls can be effectively combined with the L wall units, also on display, to form bunkers and division walls. The dual purpose L Wall can be utilised for forming earth retaining walls, whilst the unique structure of the rockets prevent the lodging of materials.

Also on show will be Milbury’s prestressed vertical and horizontal panels which can be used to form a multitude of retaining structures as well as storage buildings and structures at facilities such as MRF’s and Civic Amenity sites.

Milbury specialises in the designing, manufacturing and installation of prestressed and precast concrete solutions for a wide variety of structural applications. With their own in house design team at the head office near Bristol, Milbury can accommodate individual and bespoke projects, this together with their concrete manufacturing facility, based in Gloucestershire, allows Milbury to offer a highly competitive and full service package.

Milbury Awarded Environmental Standard

Milbury Systems, part of the Eleco group, has achieved ISO 14001 accreditation - the internationally recognised standard for reducing impact on the environment.

Certification was achieved for Milbury’s manufacturing plant at Lydney, Gloucestershire, where the business is striving to address the balance of maintaining profitability whilst reducing the environmental impact of its products.

We will continue to monitor the environmental impact the business has and ensure our work ethics reflect our commitment in sustaining a minimal effect on the environment.”

Milbury Systems, which specialises in providing a complete concrete solution from design to manufacturing through to installation, produces a wide range of prestressed and precast walling and flooring products for industrial and domestic applications and has also recently been re audited to update its ISO 9001 accreditation and is now ISO 9001:2008 registered.

Milbury Systems gets ISO 14001:2004 registration

Milbury Systems has successfully been registered to the Environmental Management System ISO 14001:2004. The registration covers the Milbury Systems, Lydney Precast Concrete manufacturing facility. The registration is an important part of Milbury Systems commitment to sustainable construction and continuously improving our impact upon the environment.

Milbury Goes To School

Concrete engineering company Milbury Systems has been awarded a £37,000 contracted by Patton Construction to design, supply and install a vertical cantilever soil retaining wall on site of the new Castle Douglas primary school in Dumfries and Galloway.

Concrete for the wall will be manufacture at Milbury's production plant in Lydney, Gloucetsershire and transported up to Castle Douglas in Scotland for installation in February.

The original Castle Douglas primary school, which was built in 1934, is being demolished to make way for a new upgraded building on the site which is set on the outskirts of Castle Douglas. The school is set to open in 2009.

Milbury's Concrete Complements Composting

Precast Concrete offers versatile solutions for composting and waste facilities. Milbury Systems excels in designing and adapting its range of products to meet the different client requirements at all stages of the recycling and composting process, with the company’s concrete prestressed and precast systems featuring in numerous material recycling facilities across the UK.

Milbury's Vertical Cantilever (VC) system is particularly effective on new MRF and waste transfer station sites. The interlocking concrete panels offer a fully functional structural solution with a clean vertical wall and foundation interface to prevent material being trapped between the walls and skips, and has the ability to resist large potential impact loads.

Milbury’s products are currently being installed to form a new enclosed recycling and composting facility under construction by North Midland Construction at Bryn Lane, Wrexham.

Concrete VC panels have been installed to form push and separation walls within the in-vessel composting plant and MRF, with ”L” walls and 137 no. 4m high Rocket walls® forming division walls. The patented Rocket Wall® units are ingeniously structured to prevent material lodging, making them ideal for the storage of waste materials. They rapidly form effective bunkers and bays for most stored materials and can be re-sited as storage requirements change.

The Bryn Lane site, being developed by Wrexham CC and the Waste Recycling Group, is due to be commissioned before the end of 2009. The facility will include a recycling operation where kerbside and bring to site recyclables will be sorted, baled and prepared for sale to recycling reprocessors and also an enclosed composting facility, waste transfer station and education centre.
