DESCRIPTION

Milbury assisted with a successful completion of work for the edge of the motorway on the hard shoulder. 570 linear metres of concrete was erected into a pre-formed slot in the foundations.

An 11m² panel was used to provide the required height of wall in one unit. The manufacturing process was made more complicated as the panels required skewed ends and simulated central joints. As a result Milbury pioneered the use of mat formers to obtain a feature finish.

Achieving a decorative finish on pre-stressed panels is technically much more difficult than on a pre-cast unit but the resulting panel is pleasing to the eye and has all the strength and benefits of pre-stressed concrete which exceeded client requirements.
